When we bind a medicine, what percentage of solvent is used in it?

What percentage of aqueous solution were you taking for binding? If you are taking non-aqueous then what percentage? If you are taking organic then what percentage?

No specific amount or percentage is necessary to bind the drug mixture during granulation. It all depends upon the following factors,

  • Nature of solvent (Aqueous/Non-aqueous, Organic, etc)
  • Extent of wetting of the drug and other excipients with the solvent required
  • Amount of binding required
  • In the finally dried granules, the solvent does not remain as it evaporates during drying.
The quantity and selection of appropriate solvent or solvents mixture should be decided during process development and optimization by R&D.
