Testing the presence fo Salmonella

We might have an idea that Salmonella has to absent in 10gm of sample, which is more amount of sample used for testing pathogens. So, how much amount(ml) of the sample should be taken form SCDM(broth) and added to RVSEB(10ml), so it makes 10gm. If the answer is 0.1ml, how does it make difference with presence of E.coli and Shigella??
