Replacement of surface swab method by active air sampling

Good morning all,

Currently we are performing surface swab method as part of environmental monitoring. we are planing to replace it with active air sampling as it is a non sterile plant. So can u people suggest me, what we have to do for changing the method. is there any validation required for this?

I am also working in a non-sterile plant. I see my colleagues use both air sampling and swab methods to monitor the production environment:

  • Surface: take samples at ceiling, wall and floor using swab method, but now we change the sampling location to wall, door and finger-tip and take samples using contact plate.
  • Microorganism in the air: we are using air sampler and settle plate methods.

This reply might not directly answer your question, I just share my experience and hope this help.
