This is a very generic question. In case of sensitive reactions or determinations, it is advisable to carry out sensitivity test to assess response. Some times, even when lot number or batch number of a reagent or chemical changes, the response is affected or changed. For example, in case of microbiological determinations when there is a change in lot number of nutrient media a growth promotion test is carried out to check response of microorganisms on their growth due to change in lot number of nutrients media used to prepare nutrient agar plates.
