why do weight constant for empty dish and crucible in loss on drying and sulphated ash ?
This is performed just to ensure that there is no further loss in weight after heating again. In case of loss in weight is observed upon further heating then this indicates incomplete process of heating and we will not get correct and true results. Therefore, repeating heating process till we get constant weight is important to avoid erroneous analytical results.
