Effect of lubricant

(Sajjad Ahmad) #1

what is the effect of lubricant on disintegration time?

(Md. Saifullah Khan) #2

Increase of the lubricant concentration in tablet formulation can create a barrier between tablet granules or particles and the disintegrating liquid of interest, resulting in an increase of disintegration time of the tablet.

(Sajjad Ahmad) #3

how it can be prevented?

(Md. Saifullah Khan) #4

Optimum amount of concentration validated by R&D team.

(Sajjad Ahmad) #5

low concentration
minimum mixing at the end

(Sajjad Ahmad) #6

hydroplhilic lubricants eg sodium steryl fumarate may also be used

(Md. Saifullah Khan) #7

How increase in lubricant increase tablet hardness?

(Sajjad Ahmad) #8

tablet hardness is decreased

(Md. Saifullah Khan) #9

Here they said that it increases

(Sajjad Ahmad) #10

Check lowering of hardness.
When too much qty is used it may give opposite results instead of giving its true results.
same like super disintegrent cross carmelose sod give result up to 8% and at higher qty it retard disintegration
