If we are having a pre-planned calibration schedule. How many days before of due date, we can perform instrument calibration? Is there any suggested guideline?
Generally, there is a window period for scheduled date of calibration. It depends upon frequency of calibration. For example, for a monthly calibration frequency the window should be + & - 3 days. For 3 to 6 months frequency, window should be + & - 5 days. For one year frequency, it should be + & - 7 days. There is no specific guideline. However, factors like, criticality, frequency of usage of instrument to be calibrated and logistic factors should be taken into consideration especially, if calibration is done by external agency.
