Analytical Method Verification of USP Method for determination of Sulphur dioxide

We are desirous to carry out Method Precision for USP Method of Determination of Sulphur dioxide in hard gelatin capsule shells. Since the sample being used does not show any Sulphur dioxide, what is to be spiked to show Precision?

Please use an equivalent amount of Sodium sulfate in place of Sulphur dioxide to spike the sample and determine the precision of the analytical method as per the USP method.

Thanks for your response. Will spiking sodium sulfate mimic Sulfur dioxide in this analysis?
